How to play

Pass with a plan
Choose three cards at the start of most rounds. High spades, exposed hearts, and awkward suits can all change the shape of a hand.

Follow the lead
When you can follow the led suit, you must. The highest card in that suit takes the trick and any penalty cards inside it.

Keep points away
A heart is worth one point and the Queen of Spades is worth thirteen. The lowest total wins when the game ends.
What makes a good hand
Shape matters
A short suit can give you a way to discard a dangerous card later. Before you pass, look for a hand that can safely lose a trick instead of winning one.
Tempo matters
Winning a trick gives you the next lead. That can be useful, but it can also force a suit when your hand is not ready. Plan one trick ahead.
The score matters
A small penalty is often better than exposing the Queen of Spades. Check the total score as well as the current trick before you make a bold play.
Strategy for your next round
Count the danger cards
The game becomes clearer when you remember which high cards are still out. Hold a safe exit card before leading a suit.
Break hearts carefully
The first heart changes what can be led. If you cannot avoid a penalty, consider who will control the next trick.
Treat the moon as a commitment
Taking every penalty card can reverse the score, but it needs control, timing, and a backup plan when one heart escapes.
